India and Jamaica sign three MoUs to expand bilateral cooperation during EAM S. Jaishankar’s visit from May 2 to 4, 2026

• External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar conducted the first-ever visit by an Indian foreign minister to Jamaica during a three-nation tour, signing three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in health, broadcasting, and solarisation.
• India handed over 10 BHISHM emergency medical units and announced the provision of 30 dialysis units, 40 fishing boats with engines, 200 GPS devices, and JMD 2 million for the celebration of India Arrival Day.
• The number of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) training slots for Jamaica, specifically for defence training, was increased from six to 34 to enhance capacity building.
• Both nations acknowledged the completion of the Improving Rural Livelihoods project by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and discussed an Artisan Empowerment Hub under the India–Caribbean Community (CARICOM) framework.
• Jamaica reaffirmed its support for India’s candidature for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2028–29 and the finalisation of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT).
