AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 Portal Launched for Ebola Screening of International Travellers

Key facts

• The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), launched AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 to strengthen public health surveillance at Points of Entry across India.
• The upgraded portal was developed in collaboration with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), following the World Health Organization (WHO) declaration of the Ebola outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
• International passengers arriving in India are required to submit an online Health Self-Declaration Form (SDF) up to 24 hours before arrival, providing details of their 21-day travel history, exposure history, and related symptoms.
• The portal enables real-time sharing of passenger information with the Airport Health Officer, Bureau of Immigration, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), and State Surveillance Officers to identify at-risk travellers.
• The current outbreak has been confirmed as Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD), with the WHO assessing neighbouring countries, including South Sudan, as being at high risk of transmission.
