Bharat Taxi: India's First Cooperative-Led Ride-Hailing Service

• Union cooperation minister Amit Shah launched Bharat Taxi, India's first cooperative-led, driver-owned ride-hailing service, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
• The service operates on a zero-commission model across three categories: two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, and four-wheelers.
• The service was launched in 14 major cities of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Anand, Mehsana, and Nadiad.
• Bharat Taxi signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Gujarat State Cooperative Bank, Surat traffic police, Rajkot and Ahmedabad airports, and the Ahmedabad division of Western Railway.
• The service aims to expand to Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Kolkata by July 31, with a target to cover 500 cities and towns within two years.
