  • The Centre notified the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G) Act, 2025, which will come into force across the country from July 1, 2026.
  • The VB–G RAM G Act replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005, which will stand repealed from the same date.
  • Every rural household whose adult members volunteer for unskilled manual work will be entitled to a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment in a financial year, up from 100 days under MGNREGA.
  • The government allocated ₹95,692.31 crore for the implementation of the scheme in financial year 2026–27, with total programme outlay expected to exceed ₹1.51 lakh crore including state contributions.
