Centre notifies Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, with enhanced 125-day employment guarantee and ₹95,692.31 crore outlay

Key facts

• The Centre notified the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G) Act, 2025, which will come into force across the country from July 1, 2026.
• The VB–G RAM G Act replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005, which will stand repealed from the same date.
• Every rural household whose adult members volunteer for unskilled manual work will be entitled to a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment in a financial year, up from 100 days under MGNREGA.
• The government allocated ₹95,692.31 crore for the implementation of the scheme in financial year 2026–27, with total programme outlay expected to exceed ₹1.51 lakh crore including state contributions.
• Wage payments will continue through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into workers’ bank or post office accounts, payable weekly or within 15 days of muster roll closure, failing which delay compensation is applicable.
