Dr. Florence Rabier of France has been named the recipient of the International Meteorological Organization (IMO) Prize, the highest scientific distinction in meteorology, awarded by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
The award recognizes her work in advancing numerical weather prediction, improving satellite observations, and integrating artificial intelligence into forecasting systems.
She served as the Director of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) from 2016 until the end of 2025.
Following her retirement from ECMWF, she became a Non-Executive Director of the United Kingdom's Met Office.
