Key facts
- The Maharashtra government and Prasar Bharati will jointly establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to develop an Integrated Film and Television Media Hub in Mumbai.
- The hub will be established on 150 acres of land, out of a total of 278 acres owned by All India Radio (AIR) in Malad.
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Prasar Bharati, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation.
- The proposed media hub will include state-of-the-art film studios, sound stages, hospitality, IT and ITES related facilities, tourism development projects, and international standard film and music training centres.
- The project is subject to No-Development Zone (NDZ) and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules, with the development plan to be finalised by June end.
