Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) releases uniform norms for District Domestic Product (DDP) estimates

  • The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released uniform guidelines for the compilation of District Domestic Product (DDP) estimates with the base year 2022-23.
  • The National Statistics Office (NSO), under MoSPI, had previously uploaded the draft guidelines on 7 April for consultation and feedback from stakeholders.
  • The guidelines provide a framework for the compilation of Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP), Net District Domestic Product (NDDP), and Per Capita Income at the district level.
  • The framework emphasises a bottom-up approach for DDP estimates where feasible, while recommending top-down approaches and allocation indicators where district-wise information is inadequate.
  • Currently, 26 States and Union Territories are compiling DDP estimates.

NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) launches UPI in Cambodia

  • NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has partnered with ACLEDA Bank Plc to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments in Cambodia.

  • The second phase of the project aims to establish a bi-directional payment corridor, enabling Cambodian citizens to use the Bakong-KHQR system to make payments at UPI QR codes in India.
  • UPI is now accepted in nine countries: Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE), France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia.

Ethanol Fuel Network Expansion: 5,000 Dispensing Stations Planned by 2027

  • The Government of India plans to expand the national ethanol fuel network to 5,000 dispensing stations by the close of 2027.
  • Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) Hardeep Singh Puri stated the rollout begins with 50 to 100 stations in Delhi-NCR, Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur, aiming for 500 stations by late 2026.

First model border village foundation stone laid at Chumur on June 03, 2026

Vipul Appointed India's Next Ambassador to Saudi Arabia
