Project Ganga: Boosting Rural Digital Connectivity in Uttar Pradesh

Key facts

• The Uttar Pradesh government launched Project Ganga to ensure last-mile digital connectivity in rural areas for digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, skill development, and technology-based employment.
• The project aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity to approximately 20 lakh families and generate more than one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.
• In its first phase, the project is being launched in 21 districts with OneOTT Intertainment Limited serving as the Knowledge Partner and Implementation Enabler.
• The initiative targets the preparation of 8 to 10 thousand Digital Service Providers (DSPs), with a specific goal of preparing 8 thousand digital entrepreneurs.
• Approximately 50 percent of the beneficiaries will be women, and selected youth can avail interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh under the CM Yuva scheme.
