The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced that 15 foreign universities have received Letters of Intent (LoIs) to establish campuses in India.
The initiative is governed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) (Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India) Regulations, 2023.
The initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to internationalise higher education and encourage global engagement.
The foreign campuses are expected to maintain student-teacher ratios ranging from 12:1 to 25:1.
Students at these campuses may benefit from fee reductions between 18% and 74% compared to studying at the same institutions overseas.
