Vipul, a 1998-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been appointed as India's next ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
He is currently serving as India's envoy to Qatar, a position he has held since August 2023.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the appointment, noting that he is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
His previous diplomatic experience includes serving as the Joint Secretary (Gulf) in the MEA from 2020 to 2023 and as the Consul General of India in Dubai from 2017 to 2020.
He graduated in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, in 1994 and holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
