Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029) and ₹6,000 Crore Narcotics Disposal Drive

Key facts

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029) during the 10th Apex Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi.
• The government launched the Online Drugs Disposal Fortnight Campaign to destroy narcotic substances weighing over 2.09 lakh kilograms with an estimated value exceeding ₹6,000 crore.
• The Home Minister released the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Annual Report 2025 and virtually inaugurated new zonal offices of the NCB in Jammu and Guwahati.
• The national roadmap is built on four key pillars: Enforcement, Intelligence and Operations; Precursor and Synthetic Drug Control; Demand Reduction and Rehabilitation; and Capacity Building and Coordination.
• The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is working to establish exclusive Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) courts and directed states to convert Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs) into dedicated units.
