Vivek Aggarwal elected as Vice President of Financial Action Task Force (FATF)

• Vivek Aggarwal has been elected as the Vice President of the FATF, an intergovernmental organisation that formulates global standards to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
• Aggarwal is a 1994-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre and currently serves as the Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (GoI).
• He previously served as the head of the Indian delegation to the FATF and as the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND).
• Before assuming his current role in April 2025, he was the Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, where he managed matters related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
• He has also served as Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, leading national initiatives such as PM-KISAN, Digital Agriculture, and the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund.
