Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 157.92 km stretch of the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Greenfield Expressway.
The total length of the expressway corridor is 667 km, built at an estimated cost of ₹38,905 crore.
Upon completion, travel time from Delhi to Katra will reduce from about 14 hours to 6 hours, and from Delhi to Amritsar from 8 hours to 4 hours.
The expressway will connect Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir.
It is expected to decongest NH-44, improve freight movement, boost religious tourism to Vaishno Devi and the Golden Temple, and unlock economic opportunities in logistics, manufacturing, real estate, and regional growth.
