India Approves First 100 MWh Flow Battery Project

• NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has awarded a contract to Delectrik Systems for India's first utility-scale Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) project with a capacity of 100 MWh.
• The VRFB will be deployed at the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat, which is planned to become the world's largest renewable energy installation with a capacity of 30 GW by 2029.
• The flow battery uses a non-flammable, water-based vanadium electrolyte, eliminating the risk of thermal runaway and offering a lifespan of over 20 years with minimal capacity degradation.
• The project is 100% designed, engineered, and manufactured in India, aligning with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) initiative.
• Delectrik Systems has formed subsidiaries to produce vanadium oxide and offer 'Energy Storage as a Service' (ESaaS) to commercial and industrial customers.
