- The Indian Navy will commission the Mahendragiri F38, the sixth indigenous stealth frigate of Project 17A, at Visakhapatnam on 11 July.
- The frigate was designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai.
- The warship is named after the Mahendragiri mountain range located in the Eastern Ghats.
- The ship is powered by a Combined Diesel or Gas (CODOG) propulsion system and features over 75 per cent indigenous content under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
- The vessel is intended to safeguard maritime interests and support India's role as the Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean Region.
