Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced the establishment of India's first government-driven Artificial Intelligence (AI) University at the Google I/O Connect India 2026 event in Bengaluru.
The state will also set up an AI Hub to function as an incubation centre for startups, researchers, companies, and academic institutions working in AI.
The AI University aims to focus on creating world-class AI talent, advanced research, and collaboration between academia, industry, and government.
Shivakumar stated that AI will be integrated into sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, citizen services, and small businesses.
The Chief Minister invited Google to partner in AI research, startup innovation, education, and responsible AI development.
