- The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has made it mandatory to use the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) platforms for settlement of all MSME invoices by Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
- All operating CPSEs are required to route invoice settlements for goods and services from MSMEs through any RBI-authorised TReDS platform.
- MSME suppliers retain the choice of whether to discount their invoices or simply collect payment through the mandated platform.
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the Union Budget 2026-27 that TReDS had already facilitated over Rs 7 lakh crore in liquidity support to MSMEs.
