  • The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) announced the Corporate Mitra scheme to create a cadre of professionals to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) meet regulatory requirements.
  • The programme will start with 2,000 participants, including 200 from the North East, and is open to Indian citizens with a graduate degree up to 30 years of age.
  • Proposed in the 2026-27 Union Budget, the course is jointly run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI), the Institute of Cost Accountants, and IIT Madras.
  • The training consists of six months of academic instruction and six months of practical work covering GST, income-tax filing, accounting, cost accounting, and corporate law to assist MSMEs with statutory filings, bookkeeping, cost control, and secretarial compliance.
