Naresh Pal Gangwar, a 1994-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education.
He replaced Vineet Joshi, who has been transferred to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj as Secretary.
Gangwar previously served as Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
He holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, an M.Tech in Communication and Radar, and a Master's degree in Economics.
During his tenure in Rajasthan, he served as district collector in Tonk (2001), Sawai Madhopur and Jhalawar (2004), Jodhpur (2006), and Bharatpur (2008).
In 2014, he was appointed as the Secretary of the School Education Department in the Rajasthan government.
