Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK) for Child Healthcare

Key facts

• Union Health Minister JP Nadda launched the Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK), a unified child healthcare programme integrating Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) for children from birth to 36 months.
• The SSBSK introduces a risk-stratified approach providing up to nine home visits for newborns during the first 42 days of life and up to eight home visits for at-risk children until 36 months.
• The programme was launched at the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) at Vigyan Bhawan under the vision 'Pehle Teen Saal Sampoorna Dekhbhal'.
• Care will be delivered through joint home visits by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Community Health Officers (CHOs), and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), as well as Well-Baby Sessions at Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND) and monthly Shishu Shivir at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
• The initiative leverages digital systems aligned with the JANANI Portal, U-WIN Portal, MPCDSR Portal, RBSK 2.0 Portal, and POSHAN Tracker, utilizing ABHA and Baal-ABHA IDs for data exchange.
