Two Lakh Anganwadi Centres Approved for Saksham Upgradation

Key facts
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development approved the upgradation of 2 lakh Anganwadi Centres as Saksham Anganwadis under Mission Poshan 2.0.
- The upgraded centres will be equipped with LED screens, water filtration systems, Poshan Vatika, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) material, and Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) paintings.
- Beneficiaries under the mission include children under 6 years, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls (aged 14–18 years in Aspirational Districts and North-Eastern region).
- Supplementary Nutrition is provided as per the revised norms of Schedule-II of the National Food Security Act, 2013, which were updated in January 2023.
- Extra Supplementary Nutrition (Take Home Ration) is given to Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children.
