UP Kisan Karj Mafi Scheme: Agricultural Loan Waiver up to ₹1 Lakh

Key facts

• The Government of Uttar Pradesh launched the UP Kisan Karj Mafi Scheme (UPKMS), also known as Uttar Pradesh Kisan Rin Mochan Yojana, in 2017 to waive agricultural loans for small and marginal farmers.
• The UPKMS provides agricultural loan waivers up to ₹1 lakh, with 75% of the loan amount funded by the government and 25% by the allotted banks.
• Eligibility criteria include being a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh, possessing land up to 2 hectares, and having loans outstanding as of 31 March 2016 from Scheduled banks, Cooperative Banks, or Regional Rural Banks.
• Applicants must be registered on the official portal with KYC Aadhaar updates and must not be defaulters from any other government schemes.
• Required documents for application include Aadhaar Card, Khasra Khatauni/Land record, Bank loan account details, Bank Passbook, UP Domicile Certificate, and a passport-size photograph.
