Operation Trishul has brought back 274 fugitives from 36 countries since 2019.
Of these, 17 were wanted in terrorism and narco-terrorism cases, 42 in organised crime, and 53 in sexual offences cases.
The highest number of 70 fugitives were brought back in 2025, and 45 have been brought back till July 2026.
Fugitives were tracked using satellite imagery, surveillance, and digital footprints with help from IB, CBI, R&AW, and state police.
INTERPOL cooperation was used to establish locations of fugitives who had changed identities.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the number contrasts with four per year during the UPA regime.
The number is expected to rise further due to the Centre's war on drugs and a three-year roadmap for agencies.
