Indian Navy launches seventh Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft 'Machilipatnam' at Cochin Shipyard on 29 July 2026

• Indian Navy launched 'Machilipatnam' (BY 529), the seventh of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, at Cochin Shipyard Limited on 29 July 2026.
• The vessel was launched by Goolrukh Anand in the presence of Vice Admiral Atul Anand, Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs.
• The ship is named after the historic port city of Machilipatnam in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.
• The ship is equipped for underwater surveillance, anti-submarine warfare operations, low intensity maritime operations, and mine warfare capability.
• The vessel has indigenous content exceeding 80 percent, reaffirming India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative in defence manufacturing.
• Earlier in July 2026, the Indian Navy commissioned 'Malvan', the second Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, built at Cochin Shipyard Limited.
