INS Malvan, the second ship in the Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft series, will be commissioned on July 22, 2026.
The commissioning ceremony will be led by Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, and Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
INS Malvan was built by Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi with over 80% indigenous content, supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The vessel is designed for shallow water operations, capable of detecting, tracking, and engaging submarines near India's coastline, as well as conducting patrol and maritime security missions.
INS Malvan is the second ship in the Mahe-class, following INS Mahe which was commissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on November 24, 2025.
