ISRO to Launch GSLV-F17 With EOS-05 Earth Observation Satellite

• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is scheduled to launch its GSLV-F17 rocket carrying the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite on September 4, 2026, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
• GSLV-F17 is the 19th flight of India's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) and will use a 4-metre-diameter ogive composite payload fairing.
• The rocket will place EOS-05 into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub-GTO), from where the satellite will move to its final orbit.
• EOS-05 is an advanced Earth observation satellite and will be India's first imaging satellite to operate from a geosynchronous orbit, allowing it to observe large areas of Earth.
• The satellite will provide frequent observations of India's landmass, coastal areas, weather systems, and disaster-prone regions, and can be used to monitor cyclones, floods, and forest fires.
