OSDMA Signs MoUs with UNDP and CivicDataLab to Strengthen Odisha’s Disaster Management Framework

• The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) signed two MoUs with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and CivicDataLab to strengthen the state's disaster management framework.
• Under the OSDMA-UNDP partnership, a comprehensive Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (HRVA) will be conducted across all 30 districts of Odisha.
• The HRVA will collect village-level data in 10 coastal districts and Gram Panchayat-level data in the remaining 20 districts, which will form the basis of a GIS-enabled digital platform.
• The MoU with CivicDataLab will develop a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Disaster Risk Reduction, integrating data from multiple departments to provide real-time dashboards and analytical insights.
• The initial phase of the CivicDataLab platform will focus on riverine floods, coastal flooding, and heatwave-related risks.
• The initiatives aim to support evidence-based decision-making and advance Odisha's goal of 'Zero Casualty' and building a disaster-resilient state.
