The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) to establish a research centre focused on transportation, mobility, and logistics economics.
The proposed NHAI Centre for Economics of Transportation, Mobility and Logistics will be housed at NCAER.
The centre will undertake research across highway economics, freight logistics, tolling policy, asset monetisation, road safety, and technology adoption.
NHAI will fund the initiative for an initial period of 10 years.
NCAER is expected to mobilise additional support from other institutions for the centre.
