The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) signed an MoU with Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology (MAHAPREIT) to finance green, climate-resilient and sustainable infrastructure in rural India.
The collaboration prioritises green energy, decarbonisation of government buildings, gram panchayat infrastructure, rural public institutions, and water pumping schemes.
Clean energy solutions will be deployed for Directorate of Technical Education institutions, government hospitals, district hospitals, and other public service institutions in rural areas.
The MoU also covers promotion of biogas and bioenergy from agricultural residues, and solar-powered micro cold storage for village-level bodies.
