Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) sign pact for optical network testbed

• The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) signed a five-year agreement to establish an optical network testbed.
• The testbed will be located at C-DOT's campus in New Delhi and aims to accelerate commercialisation of indigenous optical communication technologies developed by Indian startups and industry.
• The testbed will integrate C-DOT's existing optical core, access and quantum security technologies, and will accept third-party test and measurement tools from approved vendors.
• The project is structured in two phases: the first two years for setup and the remaining three years for operations and maintenance.
• The facility will also provide training to students, researchers and industry professionals to address the skills gap in specialised telecom engineering.
