MSDE Organises Skill Manthan on Women’s Livelihoods

Key facts

• The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organised the inaugural session of 'Skill Manthan' on the theme 'Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Women' as a virtual dialogue on September 10, 2026.
• The session showcased district-led initiatives from Meerut and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh and NTR District in Andhra Pradesh, combining skilling, entrepreneurship, finance, technology, and market access for women's livelihoods.
• Meerut presented a women-centric manufacturing model providing training and employment in badminton racket and shuttlecock production; Bijnor highlighted 'Vidur Prerna Swadeshi', a district-wide platform for rural women entrepreneurs; and NTR District's 'RISE' offered a one-stop ecosystem with skilling, credit facilitation, mentoring, and employment linkages.
• District officials Ms. Jasjit Kaur (Bijnor), Dr. G. Lakshmisha (NTR, Andhra Pradesh), and Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh (Meerut) presented the initiatives, while Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE, addressed the session.
• Skill Manthan will serve as a knowledge-sharing platform for documenting, sharing, and replicating successful district-led grassroots models, contributing to women's economic participation and the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
